Stagecoach UK Bus announced today (28 November 2008) the appointment of a new Managing Director for its Warwickshire business.

Steven Burd joins Stagecoach Warwickshire from Blackpool Transport where he has been Managing Director since 2002.

He began his career in the bus industry as a National Bus Company management trainee in 1980, and subsequently worked in South Wales, United Counties, Eastern Counties, Southern National, Eastern National, and Thamesway.

From 1992 to 1994, Steven was Operations Director of Stagecoach Cumberland, then Commercial Director of Arriva North East, until he joined Blackpool Transport, where he has managed and developed a successful and respected company.

Les Warneford, Managing Director, Stagecoach UK Bus, said: “Steven brings with him extensive knowledge, experience and a successful record, and I am pleased to welcome him back to Stagecoach.”

Steven succeeds Phil Medlicott, who has taken up the position of Managing Director of Stagecoach’s Kent and Hastings business.

Stagecoach Warwickshire operates around 180 buses and employs around 400 staff. The company’s bus network is centred on Rugby, Leamington, Warwick, Nuneaton, Bedworth and Stratford upon Avon. Further services run into Leicestershire, Worcestershire and Coventry.
